We are 8 days away from the election and the playing field for Democrats has expanded. It used to be a given over the decades that states like Texas, Arizona, Georgia and North Carolina were solidly Republican states. That dynamic has changed with the increase of minority populations in those states. The Black, Latino & Asian populations have increased significantly making these states ripe to be flipped in November. Recognizing this changing dynamic, the GOP is using extreme voter suppression efforts to stymie Democratic efforts in Texas, Arizona, Georgia and North Carolina.
So, why are these states primed to turn blue? In large part because of young people who want a better future. The young voters in these states are more progressive thinking on issues like climate change, infrastructure, minimum wage, tax reform and real criminal justice reform. The people in these battleground states have to be bold and courageous. They have to be willing to change the trajectory that their states have been on for decades. Texas, Arizona & Georgia are run by GOP Governors. These Governors have systematically cut corporate taxes and paid for them by cutting funding for badly needed programs that help the youth and elderly in their states. These Governors have also gutted worker rights & worker protections in their states.
The bottom line is this. The voters of Texas, Georgia, North Carolina & Arizona have to take their states back from authoritarian governance. If you want a higher minimum wage, tax cuts for the middle class & working poor, unimpeded access to healthcare, improved infrastructure, police/criminal justice reform, lower college tuition and reduced student loan debt, than you can get these things by turning your states blue. The Democrats are thee only party fighting for these issues. They’re the only party fighting for you.
Texans, Georgians, Arizonans & North Carolinians, if you come out in huge numbers and vote, than these states will be red no more. VOTE!
